County Agent Speech Sets Tone for Gogeble 4H Club
The Gogeble 4H Service Club met at Ironwood Township Hall on Tuesday evening December 7. Thirty eight members and guests attended. C Gunderson county agricultural agent gave the address and films of Gogehic County Fair and Tron wood Bessemer 1937 football game were shown. After refreshments the Candle Light ceremony was held and new members were admitted. Mrs. F H Carlson of Anvil was named honorary member. Members from various townships attended. They plan a skating night December 28 at the Irondrome in Bessemer for active members and visiting students during Christmas vacation.

William Brannas a 65 year old resident of Ironwood died after a stroke at Newport hospital Saturday night following a Thursday onset. A long time plumbing and heating contractor in the city he worked previously at H B Williams hardware and later ran his own business. Born in Finland October 3 1872 he lived in Ironwood most of his life and is survived by a wife six sons and five daughters. Funeral services were held from the Finnish National Lutheran church on Wednesday afternoon.

Three defendants were convicted and sentenced at the present term of circuit court in Bessemer by Judge Geo. D. Driscoll. Charles Brace of Ironwood township drew 1 to 6 years for negligent homicide in a head on crash that fatally injured John Koski. John Power, ex-chef, got 5 to 14 years after arrest in Minneapolis for passing counterfeit checks in Tronwood. Leo F. Mueller, former Bessemer city clerk, received 1 to 10 years for misappropriating 4500 dollars of city funds. Sheriff MacFarlane and two deputies escorted the trio to Marquette to begin serving their terms.

Abel Tossava Killed in Ironwood Township Auto Crash
Abel Tossava, 39, of Ironwood Township, was struck on the Laka Superior road by William Hakala. Tossava lay in the center of the black-top highway before rising six feet away as the car skidded, throwing him to the road’s west side. Funeral services were held at his parents’ home and at St Paul’s Finnish Lutheran Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Fire Destroys Mill At Ewen In Michigan
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed the Weidman Lumber Co. sawmill at Ewen Tuesday night causing over 150000 dollars in damage and the loss of about 200 jobs. Night watchman O Yon discovered the blaze at 10 o’clock but the quick spread left no chance to control it. The fire did not reach the office and lumber yard where millions of feet of lumber were stored. Robert Weidman and J S Weidman were nearby on business when it broke out.
