Search for Griffon Wreck Probed in Great Lakes Waters
Eugene F. McDonald of Aearth Radio Corp is searching Upper Great Lakes waters for the Griffon wreck near Manitoulin Island in the north channel of Georgian Bay. The 60 foot vessel, built by La Salle around 1673, carried fur cargo and was last seen eastbound in the Straits, possibly ashore in a storm with crew lost. Recent reports place possible bulk between Cockburn and Manitoulin Islands east of DeTour and Drummond Island, which McDonald is probing with his cruiser.

Lansing reports Michigan paid bounties on 57 coyote pelts in July the first month of the new fiscal year. There were 24 unpaid bobcat bounties from June, bringing the month’s total to $680. Under the new law bobcat bounties are not allowed in Michigan.
