Meet Irwin Daniel Abelman born February 15 1941. Son of Mr and Mrs Frank B Abelman of Bessemer. Family move from first ward to third ended his political career. Rumors place him managing Thomas Landers Jr for the junior Golden Gloves fights.
The Times notes the Union of French Canadians of the United States will convene here August 19 and 20. Notre Dame de la Garde Branch No 6 chairs with Mrs J B Parent as chairman. Events include a 9 am mass at St Ambrose church and a banquet at St James hotel with extensive committee roles listed for reception, registration, publicity, decorations, housing, entertainment, cards, dance, and sightseeing.
The 1941 Gogebic County Fair runs August 18 19 and 20 at the Gogebic County fair grounds Ironwood. Exhibits include 4 H club handicrafts dairy herd improvement poultry and egg shows and home economics displays with a major rodeo on Aug 19 20 under Candy Hammer. Read William Anderson on the rodeo and enjoy day and night shows plus a 30 member Laffsapoppin Revue. Radio station WJMS will cover the event.
