Northwest Sale of Thoroughbred Stock Brings $13707.50

A northwest sale drew about 150 stockmen with 113 head selling for $13,707.50, an average of $124.23 per animal. Lord Banifed, the herd bull, was credited with driving the high prices as bidders clashed at the auction. The event filled hotels and even forced stockmen into private homes for lodging.

Pastor Linn Resigns to Lead Creston Church

Pastor J. P. Linn of the First Presbyterian Church in Ireton has submitted his resignation and accepted a call to Creston Iowa. He plans to move by April 10th amid surprise and regret from his congregation who have urged reconsideration but accept his decision as his duty.

Reverend Linn Leaves Ireton for Creston Pastorate

Rev Linn long helped build the First Presbyterian Church at Ireton since its 1902 dedication. He departs with good standing and a salary of 1200, moving to Creston where he will not need to supply a country pulpit. Trustees have not yet called a new pastor. The piece notes Creston’s population around ten thousand and church membership at 225. The report also mentions a stock train from Ireton to Chicago and various shipments, plus Hull G A R entertainment and local notices.
