Fourth of July Celebrations Across Neighboring Towns

Rain dampened picnics but Treton and nearby towns hosted large Fourth gatherings. Rock Valley drew the most visitors with a ball game in Hawarden and Parker teams competing in forenoon play. Residents, including the Satterlees and Moris family, shared meals, croquet, tennis, and a grand fireworks display despite showers.

Moore Elected President of Sioux City & Feta Railway

The board of directors elected Dr. J Moore as president at a Sioux City meeting last Saturday. The change shifts control away from farmers, with Moore, a Sioux City grocer executive, expected to influence stock sales and project progress. Surveying is to begin next week.

Sioux County Retail Merchants Association Formed at Alton

The Sioux County Retail Merchants Association organized June 15 1905 in Alton Indiana by the Retail Merchants of Sioux County to pursue mutual improvements and community benefit. It will affiliate with the Iowa State Retail Merchants Association to unite efforts against perceived abuses by larger corporations.
