School Muddle at Struble Ends with Byrne Dismissal
Struble residents rallied after Miss Stackhouse, the principal, moved one class to Miss Byrne’s room due to overcrowding. Byrne refused to teach transferees, triggering board reviews and a special meeting. Byrne was discharged despite county superintendent support. Community protests followed. Local meeting then focused on the Ireton Local Mutual Telephone association. Officers were elected and a $9 annual assessment approved to reduce debt. Switching charges to be paid yearly dropped from five to three dollars, with options for five dollars per switch. The Union Telephone association proposal was tabled.

Directors Meeting Reports Solid Year For German Farmers Mutual
A directors meeting of the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of Sioux Plymouth and Lyon counties held in Lester Iowa on January 8 reports year ending December 3 1905 with cost per thousand at 2.01. The five year average is 9.72 while the association ran only 823.39 in maintenance expenses beyond losses. The annual meeting is set for Lester on June 5 1906 and detailed business figures show risks in force beginnings and endings, receipts, and losses paid. Henry F. Becker and Hans Moeller sworn as officers.
