Murder in Sioux county ends with second degree verdict

Sioux County terms ended with the Baldes murder trial ending in a second degree verdict at midnight. Baldes faces December sentencing after jurors found him guilty of murdering his wife. Trichina Poison Sicken Vander Steep Family Near Maurice

Seven members of the Vander Steep family near Maurice suffer trichina poisoning from diseased pork. Mrs. Vander Steep fell ill first, followed by others with the same symptoms. Dr Ogeel confirmed the diagnosis after microscopic examination showed live parasites in the pork. Some members remain dangerously ill with uncertain recovery.

R E Lasgiey of Zion City spent a week here seeking local capital for a large project to build a power plant in Alton. The plan includes supplying the town with Floyd River water, heating by steam, and operating town machinery. A possible extension toward Sions-Center cad reton.
