Morrison was called to Newton last week by the death of his mother at that place. She had been ill for three months making the passing neither sudden nor unexpected. Mrs Morrison was fifty seven years old. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Moore with former pastor Rev R F Chambers assisting at the Presbyterian Church in Newton.

A widespread storm swept the county on Monday afternoon causing heavy damage but no fatalities. Homes in several areas suffered fallen trees and shattered windows, with hail and a toppled tree at the Baird residence and a chimney destroyed at the Lewis Baird home. Residents sought shelter in cellars as debris and downed wires clogged streets.

Miller Manasmith age 60 died May 25 1925 at his Riverside area home after a yearlong illness. He was born May 21 1865 in Western Iowa and lived most of his life near Riverside. Survived by wife Edna Ruth Hughes ten children one brother and one sister and ten grandchildren. Funeral at Riverside Methodist Church conducted by Rev. C. E. Fitzsimmons with interment in Riverside Cemetery. pallbearers were six nephews.
