Murderer Fred Burke in Neb tragedy at Rosalie
Louis Higgins of Denver known as Fred Burke and Noyes killed his employer Walter I. Coppel at midnight near Rosalie Nebraska. Mrs. Coppel died as Higgins shot, then he kept seven children company before fleeing on a mule. Arrested in Hooper, taken to Fremont and Omaha for safekeeping after confessing. Higgins, a drifter with a troubled past, claimed Denver roots and various railroad and farming employments. He forged checks previously and was pursued by sheriffs before capture.
