Clark and Plymouth students record a busy season with spelling tests, health checks, nature studies, and student council activity. Reports cover grade by grade progress, field trips to the park, Arbor Day events, poetry, readings, and community updates about teachers, visitors, and local families.
Preston by Special Correspondent notes Mrs Fred Jacobs and Mrs Lambert Jeffers hosting Plymouth ladies aid attendees on Thursday. Sioux City visitors Mr and Mrs Ben Toolana's daughter Mrs J Osterbuhr and son Dennis visited Friday. Hawarden area couple Mr and Mrs Rozell welcomed a baby boy. Beaver Minnesota residents Johnson and Preston and other families traveled to attend the funeral of Henry Ommen held last Wednesday afternoon. Twin boys welcomed at Sacred Heart Hospital. Neighbors, relatives, and friends from Brunsville, Ada ville, Merrill, Craig, Le Mars, Hawarden, and near Beraun gathered for visits and church services during the week.
North Grant will host a Sunday evening meeting at the school house. The week’s social notes list Sunday and midweek visitors to households near Ruble Brunsville and Craig including the Plueger Ludwigs Siebens Kruse and Deering families. Louise Plueger is reported ill with flu.
Mrs Tina Mammen receives Akron treatments for a dislocated shoulder. Elmer Ludwigs’ birthday was noted by several friends and family at a Friday gathering with a late luncheon. A Craig dance drew attendees. Dewaine Ludwigs’ birthday was celebrated Sunday with many relatives and friends present. Lloyd Hennigs visited Herman Kruse’s home Friday.
Westfield residents recount Sunday visits with the Fay Shearer home hosting gatherings. Miss Jackson resumes school after illness as the annual Westfield music festival nears in the high school auditorium under director Everett Timm and Mrs. Louise Paulson. Local families share weekend travel, hospitality, and preparations for the LeMars music festival.
Mrs Lilly hosted the ladies aid gathering Friday with a good crowd and a social afternoon. Mrs Laura Mills of Sioux City attended. Ed Bridwell and Miss Winifred Kindergan, both of Sioux City, visited at Mrs M F Flynn’s home Sunday.
Ronald Becker is recovering from injuries after being knocked down by a horse hoof while using a disc last Thursday. He sustained internal injuries but is not believed to have suffered serious harm. The item also lists numerous local visits and family activity around Wag ner and surrounding towns, including hospital and household news chapters.
On Friday April 28 a group gathered at Fred Heeren's home for his birthday, including Henry and Marie Marienau, Martin Tohen, Carl Ahrendt and family, Shirley Ahrendt, Henry Pageler, Minnie Hartman, Marlin Grosenheider, Paul Gaffey and Richard Gaffey, with visiting, lunch and ice cream served. Leonard Plueger, son of Charley Plueger, is being treated for pneumonia at Sacred Heart hospital and is improving. Relatives and friends reminded Donald Beitelsacker of his sixth birthday on Sunday April 30, with John Wilken and family nearby Chatsworth in attendance.
Seney special correspondent John Daugherty who runs an oil station has rented his building to Charles Connor who began operating the business last Saturday. Daugherty will handle farming interests. Teving McArthur Verne Burris Al Pierson and Alex McArthur went to Long Lake Minnesota to repair John Hauda’s cabin and returned Tuesday. Ed Albert of Lake Preston South Dakota visited Clarence and Will Albert last week. Mr and Mrs Walter Woodhouse with children Dorene Darrell and Wayne from Hudson South Dakota visited Frank Becker’s home Sunday.
Mr and Mrs Bob Conor and family of LeMars visited Mrs Lizzie Conner Sunday. Rev and Mrs Richard Mohler and others attended services led by Mervin Rosell in LeMars Baptist church Friday. Lloyd Nanninga, with Clark Construction near Kingsley, spent the weekend at home. M J Lancaster and daughter Bonnie joined Miss Christine Peterson in Sioux City Friday for the Interstate Spelling Contest. Fred Wonser of Unity Wisconsin died, his sister-in-law is Mrs Alex McArthur. Mumps outbreak reported among town children. Birth announced for a son to Mr and Mrs Neal Wall of Hillman Minnesota. Arbor Day observed with pupils planting trees at Seney school grounds. Working Staffs Farm Bureau Office meeting noted in town Wednesday.
