The April term of the district court convened with Judge Gay presiding and the Ara jury in session. Foreman Thomas Stack and clerk G A C Clarke were elected. Grand jurors named include Stack, Da, Brieni, Gleason, Harnock, and others. Indicted cases include Jess Blackourn for lard theft and M A Van Buskirk charged with indecent exposure. Several trials and assignments set for late April into May. grand jury inspected the poor farm, county jail, and city jail.
Chicago records report Henry B. Roney and Roney's Boys were received by President Roosevelt at the White House. The group, a White House favorite, performed for 600 guests and will continue a thirty state tour ending soon with a concert at the First Presbyterian Church on May 10.
The LeMars High School seniors staged The Sweet Girl Graduate on Friday April 20 to a crowded audience. The program featured a three act play with an epilogue plus an orchestra and solo numbers by Mag Schneider Edward Briggs and student performers Ellen Bolser Nellie Farnham Earl Howera Walter Biesel Lillian Hawke Clara Dungee Sartori Anos Marone Oliver Bray Allen Moore and Alice Burkere. The event raised about 100 at the doors reflecting strong talent in the class of 07.
