Lizzie Richards returned home from Hinton after a two week stay with Mrs Thompson. Mrs Thompson has had grip for ten days. Helen Stowell spent weekend in LeMars. Mrs Demputer is poorly with rheumatism in her arm.

LeMars White Sox Open Season With Win Over Struble

The LeMars White Sox defeated their northern rivals 4 to 5 in a Sunday season opener. Struble expressed disappointment but handled defeat sportively after the game. LeMars drew batting privilege first and led most of the contest while Struble fought to gain a lead but could not. The crowd included about fifty LeMars supporters and a large Strable turnout. Unqualified Success Greeted by Large Church Audience

A LeMars church audience filled the building for a Morning Ladies Glee Club concert. The program ran to 10:30 pm with every number met by vigorous applause and several encores. Highlights included Carmena Waltz, Masquerade, Spring Song, and Who's Afraid, among others, with strong performances by Miss Dudley and Miss Bunting. Kale to Sioux City move and staff changes at Northwestern noted. Frank Huxtable to cashier, John Dabb to warehouse, Clyde Roby to warehouse man. all LeMars graduates.

Barn Fire Destroys John Bender Barn On Madison Street

Fire of unknown origin swept the John Bender barn near the Fred Becker home on Madison Street, badly damaging the structure and killing a horse that ran back into its stall. Neighbors freed the cow and other horse, saved nearby sheds, and limited further losses. The barn, leased by A.G. Blakeway, housed grain and hay. The scene drew many visitors on Sunday. insurance was insufficient to cover the cost. Also note: Township teacher institutes organized by County Superintendent G. Countryman, with first meetings set for April 27 at multiple sites including Hinton Merrill LeMars and Remsen, among others. teachers reportedly eager and hopeful for positive outcomes.

Henry Salzmann Dies at 81 in LeMars

Henry Salzmann, longtime LeMars resident for thirty eight years, died at his Fulton Street home Sunday night at age eighty one from old age. Funeral Monday at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Doman. A Germand-born man, his wife died ten years ago and his daughter Caroline, the sole survivor, lives locally. He was highly esteemed in the county and his death mourned by all.

Mrs Becker Dies At LeMars After Illness

Mrs. Fred Becker widow of the LeMars Savings Bank president died at her Franklin Street home Monday night at 8 after a two week illness. Funeral services will be held at the residence Wednesday at 2 pm with interment in the city cemetery.
