Bids Open June 30 for Little Sioux Flood Control Dams

Bids will be opened at 2 p m Monday June 30 in the Federal building Sioux City for the first construction project in the 4 2 million Little Sioux river flood control program by the United States soil conservation service. Six dams will be built on the Nepper watershed two miles southwest of Mapleton Iowa with several adjacent farms involved. The largest dam will be 550 feet long and 45 feet high. Construction will include earthen and reinforced concrete dams plus channel improvements and waterways stabilization. Private contractors will perform the work with final contract setting in Washington. Groundbreaking expected in July.
