Veterans urged to requalify for GI insurance in 1965 bill

Des Moines VA center officer C W Elliott explains eligibility for reinstated National Service Life Insurance. Veterans originally eligible between Oct 8 1940 and Jan 1 1957 who now have no GI insurance or under 10000 must have a service connected disability good health or nonservice connected disabilities as of Oct 13 1964 that blocked high rate commercial insurance. Reunion Highlights Niobrara Presby Women Banquet Menu

Mrs Lee Meister attended a Niobrara Nebraska reunion where United Presbyterian women duplicated the junior senior banquet menu for Niobrara 1929 and 1930 graduates. About 40 attended with Mrs Meister, her son and his wife Elwood Mister from Sioux City. Mrs Meister reported all class members were living. Memorial weekend hostesses included Mrs Arthur Pierce.

Fredonia Farmerettes Plan Le Mars Tour and Picnic

The Fredonia 4-H group met June 17 at leader Mrs. Judy Hawkins home. Roll call hinted at picnic foods as they planned a morning tour of Luken Furniture and Reuter Flooring in Le Mars, with afternoon stops at Designs Inc. and Vander Stilt in Maurice. Janice Wagner led food, and demonstrated bedroom accessories and storage before adjournment.

Mrs. Lloyd Penny, after surgery at Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee on June 3, stayed with her parents Mr and Mrs August Puhrmann from June 8 and returned home June 13 with orders to refrain from work for weeks. Howard Kress woke by a 3 am disturbance, learned his drive in was robbed, and Sheriff Mertes promptly arrested the robbers.

State music camp gathers 370 youths at Iowa

Some 370 high school and junior high musicians from 10 states began daily rehearsals at the 16th annual all State music camp at the University of Iowa. James Hauan and Colette Pierson attend, both children of local families, as the camp runs from June 13 to June 25 with private and group instruction in band, chorus and orchestral music.

Music Camp Holds Bands Chorus Orchestra Concerts

More than 200 students join the Black band for grades 8 10 and 97 more in the Gold band for higher grades with 100 in the chorus and 80 in the orchestra. Many students register for multiple divisions. Concerts occur June 20 at 3 pm and June 25 at 8 pm in Iowa Memorial Union as part of the annual Fine Arts festival.
