Le Mars citizen Le Stricken With Paralysis Le Meds Sanidene was stricken on Saturday at 10 30 and expired instantly. He had been about the house for several days and grew worse on Thursday after a sudden illness. A physician was summoned due to a recent attack.
Joseph Starzl died at his daughter’s home near Merrill at age 71 after a long illness. Born in Sadlé Bohemia in 1833 he served in Austro Italian and Danish campaigns and rose from private to lieutenant. He leaves sons John and Joseph and daughters Mrs Louis Gunther and Mrs Chas Feldman, with funeral at Church of the Agoniston in Merrill and interment at St Joseph's Cemetery in LeMars.
The funeral was held from the late home under Mower Post G A R with Rev G Whitfield delivering a tribute to the man. Born in New York in 1840 he served in the Civil War and left a large family. only two of his eleven brothers survive, with one son ill and another distant. The service honored his long, civic life and the sacrifices of his household.
J W Lee J H Sweeney and Jon Kass were bound over to the grand jury after being arrested in Orange City for breaking into the Omaha freight depot. They faced a rearranged trial, with Sheriff Schaap testifying to whisky found in their possession and Roby the warehouse man confirming the door was opened in the usual way. Each was bound over in 100 dollars. Clay and Merritt were held as witnesses and the men remained jailbound.

In front of about 250 fans at Athletic Park the White Sox defeated the Maples six to four on Sunday afternoon. The game featured steady offense and strong batting with occasional errors as Trafford Kale and John pitched for the Magles while Whithsox fanned, Straus and Jones for the White Sox.
Mise Haddie Haerling of LeMars and Henry Hodapp of Merrill were married at eleven oclock Tuesday in the bride’s parents home. The ceremony was witnessed by about forty relatives and friends withFrancis Haerling as bridesmaid and Mike Hodapp as best man. A large wedding feast followed before the couple departed by 3 40 train to Omaha and will establish housekeeping in Merrill.
John Bogen, proprietor of LeMars Marble Works, visited Aston on Monday. Located at the north end of Main Street LeMars, his shop employs three to four men year round and serves Sioux O'Brien and Cherokee counties and reaches into Minnesota. He has built a strong trade in granite and marble through conscientious effort and square dealing.
Administrator Robney J Linden announces probate in Plymouth county for Minnie Hicks deceased. All with claims must present them to the court for allowance within the legally prescribed period. Dated June on 1907. Edelstein Millar attorneys represent the estate.
Three Merrill youths Charlie Keller Lee Hodupp and Chas Kale with their father traveled to Sioux City Monday to take Navy entrance exams. They passed and headed that evening to Norfolk Virginia. Initially they planned to enlist as musicians but chose the ratings after hearing of advancement potential.
H A Mainguist, a former horseman, died in Salt Lake from morphine taken during a personal crisis in a tent. Poverty driven despondency. He hailed from Red Oak Iowa.
