The Board of Supervisors of Plymouth County Iowa will offer for sale at the courthouse in LeMars Iowa on Saturday June 28 1902 at 2 30 PM the old courthouse on Hick 34 LeMars Iowa a three story wooden building with brick wings and vault doors heating stoves tables desks chairs wash basins electe and past fixtures plus other items. A large crowd packed the Opera House Friday evening for St James Parochial School closing exercises. The program featured songs recitations and a comedy with strong performances by Miss Genavieve Maloney Miss Ruth Lalkuo Miss M. Calhoon Miss V. McCoy and others. A later section noted the marriage of Miss Cora Sullivan to Rev. Karl Kaupp at LeMars with a formal reception and celebratory dinner.
The Water Light Co installed a new pump Saturday night under chief engineers Wilkinson and Betherton. It started Sunday morning and reduced previous delays, delivering strong pressure. Plans call for lowering old pumps, adding wells, and expanding capacity under Lt. Ketteson, with A Meyers joining as engineer and staffing changes including Fred Carrington resigning and Schafer appointing a successor.
Rev A Z McGogney longtime pastor of LeMars Presbyterian Church has accepted a call to Paolo Kansas and left with Mrs McGogney on Tuesday evening to start a new field with a substantially higher salary. He is valued as a preacher and public speaker and will be greatly missed by numerous friends.
The Symms Powers Company of Le Mars and Sioux Falls will establish a branch in Aberdeen with Clarence Dresselhuys chosen to manage the Aberdeen house. Charley D. Symms and Dresselhuys arrived to select quarters, the Aberdeen News reports, noting the firm’s extensive heating plumbing and gas fitting work and existing contracts in the city and Brown County courthouse.
At a Monday meeting at A. H. Smith's office the Akron Game and Fish club organized with J. F. Kennedy as president, C. G. Brady as treasurer, BE. A. Fields as secretary, and Russel A. Marks of Sioux City aiding in setup. The club aims to enforce Iowa fish laws on the Big Sioux river and seek a deputy warden, with strict river surveillance to enable stocking and better fishing.
