A Wednesday college game pitted college against high school teams on the campus. The contest stayed tight with the college leading 3 2 at halftime and finishing il in favor of the college. Players and spectators later enjoyed ice cream and cake as officiated by Miss Leggett.
The Western Union College plans its second annual commencement next week in the college chapel. Fourteen graduates will receive diplomas as the olive green and white class colors reflect the 1902 cohort. The program includes piano recital by Laura May Schneider, a series of speeches, orations, and the valedictory, with graduates listed by department.
Miss Ry Rumbol and William Schumacher of LeMars united in marriage on Thursday at the bride’s cousin home in Stanton township. Rev Karl Kaupp officiated. The bride was attended by Lena Schumacher. the groom by Harry Barnharde. Decorated home, large floral bell, Stella Konnig played. About 60 guests attended, including 25 from LeMars. A wedding feast followed. The couple will reside on Fulton street in LeMars after a brief visit to relatives.

Des Moines and Albia reports detail the arrest of a burly colored man named Pat Carter by City Marshal Randolph, suspected in the Peterson murder. Police note Carter’s madness and vague connection to Des Moines, with local inquiries failing to locate a Pat Carter in the city directory.
Nic Munhovern died after being kicked by a horse on Tuesday evening. The fatal injuries occurred near Tait past the week, with medical staff reporting ruptured bladder and organ trauma. The deceased, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Minboven, was born in Fremont Nebraska and lived in the community as a respected young man. The funeral was held Saturday at St. Joseph’s church in LeMars, with large local attendance. The marriage news and wedding of Prodine Krause to Mr. Henry Weibking were noted as a separate major event in the county, celebrated with a large gathering and a village dance. Numerous locals attended horse sales and business in Sioux City and LeMars, reflecting a busy week in the community.

Additional notes include Mamie McCarthy’s return from Des Moines, plans for Louis Miller’s Philadelphia visit, Mrs. Dunbar to Clear Lake, Mrs. Brault’s northern trip, Mrs. Willines and Miss Ringers visiting Storm Lake, Patrick Neenan’s eye surgery recovery, Rev. Bowe Niebel’s attendance at commencements, and the Krouse-Wiebking wedding officiated by Rev. Hartman. Insurance settlements paid on Will Marcupe’s farm and Mrs. Greer’s return to Clear Lake, with familial visits continuing.
