Iowa Wool Pool Expands Across 96 Counties

A dry specialist from the Extension Service at Iowa State College and other experts explained the new wool pool to county groups. Ninety six counties indicated intent to sell through the National Wool Marketing Corporation. Iowa wool will be pooled in Des Moines, graded, and shipped to Boston with advances to producers based on market value. June advances ran about 20 cents per bright staple pound. Towns market about 8 million pounds annually, with about a quarter expected through the pool. More counties joined as new Sheep and Wool Growers Associations formed. three more counties to join soon.

Motorized field artillery unit being formed at Fort Leavenworth

Enlistments are authorized for a new tractor and truck powered field artillery battalion to be a show unit with on site machine shop and repair capabilities. Captain Greaves notes the unit will operate with selective men on ground floor growth and will hold frequent demonstrations.
