Hospital notes list patients from Marcus Struble Hinton and Remsen with conditions and procedures including appendicitis gallbladder surgery and tonsillectomies. A birth is recorded in Remsen, June 1. A meeting of the Young Democrats of Sioux County is set for Hawarden June 7 to discuss rural electrification and use of a four billion dollar work relief fund.
The board of supervisors decided not to shorten court house hours from 3 p.m. as previously discussed. They said constituents pressured them after hiring new staff and Uren cut hours, choosing to maintain current daily closing time.
Notice from the Democratic Central Committee of Plymouth calling a meeting tonight Thursday June 6 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse to consider policy matters. Halle Vieja Partners Union Ladies Auxiliary No 90 of Belle Vista Farmers Union met in Sioux City for lunch on May 28 after touring a packing plant. Mrs Mary Mosher presided. Jeanette Beaudhen gave readings and John Short sang. A plate supper is planned for June 11 for new members and cast members of the recently produced play.
The park board plans stone work on a lakeside area for swimmers who will check baskets at a counter before entering the water. George Pew, president, invites public suggestions for naming the new park. Walton Koch and Bob Locke will oversee swimming this summer, with The Iowa Swims Co paying for lake use and providing instruction.
Miss Morford trained at Iowa State college arrives from Linden junior high in Linden Iowa. Miss Lieber a South Dakota university normal graduate who taught at Woonsocket Ss D. Miss Van Dyke a Morningside college graduate taught two years in Hinton intermediates. Miss Collins completed primary training at Iowa State Teachers college and comes from Sergeant Bluff consolidated school.
Readable fragments show St Joseph School graduates earning eighth grade diplomas and first holy communion on May 30 1923. Named students include Josephine Klostermann Jennie Van Asma Marie Kraus Marjorie Hoss Wilfred Carey Melvin Hathaway Herbert Meis and many others.
