An education group claiming 2,000 colleges and schools held a Chicago convention. A leading speaker, a textbook author, notes his works have been removed from about 1,400 schools amid civic concerns.
The passage claims that advertising costs remain at their historic low levels, unchanged from the days of Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover, presenting the rate as exceptionally economical compared with modern standards.

The Grant Clover Clovers spent Tuesday in Sioux City visiting Swift's Packing Holss attended a broadcast at the Stock Exchange Building and had lunch together there. They inspected the School for the Blind, the Journal Tribune and the Old Home Bakery. Trinity Lutheran Church Missouri Synod plans a 7:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve service with Holy Communion led by Pastor H. D. Stahmer followed by a War Party gathering. An evening film My Dog Shop and two comedies are scheduled with a midnight snack suggested. No service New Year’s Day. pastor will preach at Grace Church in Le Mars. Sunday after New Year, January 2, Divine service with Holy Communion.
New Year events include English services at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Sunday school and Bible class at 9:30. Pastor F. O. Bunge leads. Ladies Aid meeting January 5 hosted by Mrs. H. H. Ludwigs.
Sunday schedules for St Paul Lutheran Church and partner congregations list services, youth groups, and special events. New Year observances include Holy Communion and a voters meeting, with choir rehearsals and Ladies Aid announcements upcoming.

Clagg and piano by Mrs. Albert Herzig. Sermons address Deadliest Word and Oh If I Could Only Do It Over Again. Youth Fellowship at 7:00 p.m., Evening Worship at 7:45. All-Church Night Friday 9 p.m. to midnight with games, lunch, and devotional led by Mrs. Frank Anderson. Missionary Society meets Wednesday 2:30 p.m., hostesses Mrs. C. Rickabaugh, Mrs. Henry Thompson, Mrs. Albert Herzig. devotions by Mrs. Ralph Hunter and Mrs. Stanley Tindall.
Christian Reformed Chapel at 326 7th St S. E. B. invites Le Mars residents to an Old Year's Service on Friday December 21 1948 at 8 p.m. with songs prayers and Thanksgiving plus preaching and a musical number. Sunday January 2 features Back to God Hour at 9:00 a.m. on KSOO and 11:00 a.m. on KTRI with Sunday School at 9:30 and Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. A New Year service at 7:30 p.m. with guest speaker G. Van der Plaats Calvin Theological Seminary Grand Rapids. All are welcome.
