Mrs. Henry Harter and Mildred Richarda were in LeMars Tuesday. A sizable crowd attended the sale at Ed Johnson store beginning Wednesday. John Dirks and son Walter shopped in LeMars Saturday. Chas Mammen of the north side was a business caller Monday. J M Simeon sprained his ankle in a fall Monday. Gert Pecks family and Hen Pecks visited Brunsville Tuesday evening. Local youths have been practicing every evening nearby.
Lincoln residents Arthur Schuster Harold Buss and families visit China Wiener home. A shooting match at Har Ideker farm draws a crowd. Chris Wiener Arthur Schuster visit Guerney broadcasting station in Yankton. Ada Jones and Walter Lang wed at Trinity Lutheran church. Chris Wiener festooned with forty fifth birthday among friends and relatives. John Goldsmith Lawton visit. Petersen family and Harvey Shelter home gathering. Albert Wiener returns from Minnesota trip. Roads work by Arthur Petersen Ralph Stabe in township. Lewie Wetrosky visits parental home.
John A. Simpson national president of the Farmers' Union will speak in Alton at 1 o clock Friday afternoon December 12. A number of people attended the funeral of Grandma Grimijes and visitors came to the Schultz and Kessenich homes over the past week.
Stanton Lincoln notes list residents and visitors with Sioux City trips. Chas Beck shelled corn for Ed Krueger and August Beck. Mrs Epling and family, D E Lambert, Lang family, Kounkel and Hoffman clan appear among multiple visits and shopping trips in Sioux City. Mrs Beck undergoes operation in hospital.
In Rochester Minnesota Walter Beck of Sioux City called on friends in the neighborhood Tuesday and was reported to be recovering well after a health setback. He arrived home on Sunday and is much improved.
A Merrill area report notes Lloyde Tullis escaped a serious accident when a car cut in, sending him to Dr. Knox for cuts. Mrs. Blecker and Arnold Hauser will tend the Blecker farm in California absence. The infant son of Mr and Mrs Reuel Brown died after weeks of sickness with a funeral at Adaville led by Rev Hollingshead. Merrill auto owners attended the Plymouth Co-Operative opening in LeMars with fuel sales. St Nicholas party in LeMars drew about 6,000 children. National and Sioux National banks discuss First Sioux City closure distress. Carl Halwey plans to move to Merrill after selling his hardware store. Merrill beat Lawton in Friday basketball. Monday Hin ton defeated Merrill 22 to 8. J J Schindel, previously homebound, can now go out.
S W Washington and others attended a turkey shoot near Moran's south of Struble. Many from the area joined a married folks dance in Brunsville. Families visited in Craig and LeMars and several locals were seen at various calls and shelling corn. A St Nicholas party preceded a community sale at Ed Raher's south east of Brunsville with continued local visits and a Brunsville dance noted.
A basket social will be held at the school house two miles west and one half mile south of Brunsville on Wednesday evening December 17. Hosted by teacher Leona Fisher. Ladies are urged to bring baskets. Earlier, many attended Ernest Frerichs birthday party on Thursday evening and reported a good time with wishes for many more birthdays.
Misses Ethel Hartington and Rose Doering were supper guests of Mr and Mrs. Meier. John Meier returned from Rochester and is now receiving medical treatment from a LeMars doctor. Charles Renken and family visited on Sunday. Bennie Ahrendt celebrated his birthday Sunday evening. The Grant Luther league met at the G Von Hagel home and was well attended. Sioux City shoppers and visits to Doering and Osterbuhr homes were noted along with several other social calls in Grant and vicinity.
West Stanton church group held a meeting at Mrs Clifford Kress home with Rev A L Walker in charge. Officers elected for the year include President Mrs A L Walker Vice President Mrs Carrie Schrooten Recording Secretary Mrs Mary Hodgson Corresponding Secretary Mrs Mary Kehrberg Treasurer Mrs Isabel F Kress and advisors Mrs Esther Knapp and Mrs Katie Fisher. A luncheon concluded the event.
In Stanton No. 4 district a school play raised funds with a free luncheon served at its close. Drifting travelers include Mr. and Mrs. Brandstetter and daughters en route to San Marcus Texas for Christmas with Rev Will Brandstatter. Orvill Brandatetter returns home from the university, while Theo Fischer and Mrs. Fischer visit Sioux City. Mrs. Nic Wilhelm and Mrs. Monte Rowe plan a Muscatine Iowa visit with the Slattery family. Joyce Hodgson recovering after an operation in Mitchell South Dakota. former Stanton residents Mr. and Mrs. Hodgson mentioned.
Hinton Neptune residents hosted guests at Supper Monday night and an ice cream party at the Herman Diediker home Tuesday. Roads are being prepared for winter. Moville visitors called on Mrs. Emil Bornholtz and Mrs. Ralph Andrews’s family. Christmas boxes and programs are in preparation at several schools. The play Uncle Dick's Mistake was staged in Hinton Wednesday night. Sioux City shopping guests included Mr and Mrs Frank Junck and Mr and Mrs Martin Junck. The Holmar and Diediker families figure in multiple notices.
Ernest Schultz left Tuesday night for New York to sail for Germany for a three months visit. Ph rtini Junck had a truck load of hogs on Tuesday and Frank Junck also sold hogs. Leeds bank closing affected many farmers locally. Henry Junck Jr. shopped in Sioux City Wednesday. Mrs. George Ludwig and Mrs. Fred Hansen visited in Sioux City Tuesday. Hans Olson visited Hugh Barr in Leeds Wednesday. Virgil Vanderloo, who hurt his hands in a wringer, is improving. C. J. Vanderloo and family went to Sioux City Wednesday. Leeds residents attended a party at Herman Diediker’s Tuesday night.
