Weather observer RK Har bison of Morgan reports 26 clear days, four partly cloudy, and one cloudy day in August. Total rainfall 0.12 inches. twelve month total since Sept 1, 1923 is 6.39 inches. First annual Morgan record. rainfall appears about half of normal.

Clark brothers John Henry and Will closed a deal Wednesday with Frank Evana of Walla Walla for the Summers ranch under Lexington. The Willow Creek property totals 320 acres and was handled by H. C. Wood local real estate agent. Willard Farrens returned to Lone for a few days vacation before taking a winter job herding sheep for Krebs Bros. in Morgan. Mrs Haener and children, who have spent months in Lone, left Wednesday for The Dalles where the children will attend school.
The people of Morgan School District No. 5 celebrate the cancellation of a $1500 bond issued twenty years ago by the State Land Board. After paying $1800 in interest, sinking funds were built up to retire the debt, with the loan finally paid on September 1. The note comments on prudent sinking fund use and critiques debt transfer to future generations.
Mr W Earl Wigglesworth shot himself at Fay Pettyjohn ranch two miles west of lane and died the same day amid financial troubles. He was a former Morrow county stockman, son of Mr and Mrs R F Wigglesworth of Canby Oregon, husband to a wife and father of four. Funeral held at Heppner on Thursday the 4th.

Frank Engelman and Edith Pettys travel to Portland to bring back ill Mrs. Engelman. Willam Tompkins family moves into town for winter. C. W. Swanson to Portland for business. Akers daughters Freda and Marvel move to Lovell residence. will attend school in Ione. Miss Dana Ritchie arrives from Estacada with Mrs. Paul Lovell. Mrs. Farrens, Zoe, Rufus Farrens, and Clair Young camp near Parker’s mill for about a week. Miss Eleanor Swanson and Linea Troedson return from Normal, Troedson to teach near Jones, Swanson to Monmouth term. Earl Brown leaves for Portland for a week then to return before school opens.
