Women’s Topic Club Meets For Bridge Evening

The Women’s Topic Club gathered Friday evening with Mrs. Henry Gorger. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Earl Blake, Vietor and Omer Rietman, Edward and Victor Rietmann, Henry Smouse, Inez Freeland, Ramaay, Leo, George and Joe Gorger. High scores were won by Mrs. Smouse and Leo Gorger, with consolation by Mrs. Peterson and Mr. Rietmann.

Mrs Inez Freeland Hosts Birthday Dinner Honor

Mrs Inez Freeland held a six o'clock dinner on Thursday January 22 honoring her granddaughter Inez Merritt turning eleven. Attendees included Miss Inez and Margaret Lindekin Charlotte McCabe Eleanor Eubanks Betty Bergevin Maxine McCardy Bertha Akers Shirley Larson Siby Howell Winona Ritchie, with springlike weather noted as the season moves in. Creek farmers work disking and harrowing while hill farmers prepare for spring. wheat fields are reported looking fine.

Regular weekly assembly at the Red and White

The student body gathered in the auditorium for a resumed weekly program. Mr Tucker announced the program and Mr Riggs led group singing with Ralph Gibson at the piano. Rev Cutler delivered an instructive address as students saluted the speaker.

Local Hoopsters Play Lexington

The High School boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Lexington for a doubleheader. The girls showed strong play, with Lone leading 20 to 13 at halftime before Lexington closed the gap. final score 20 13. The boys played a fast contest with Lexington winning 15 to 14 as Lone’s team displayed equal grit.

Declamatory Work Attracts Large Freshman Sophomore Tryouts

Nearly the entire high school participates in spring declamatory work with Freshmen and Sophomores represented. New material expands selections for this year. Participants earn 30 points toward the Citizenship cup. Seniors currently lead in points. District tryouts follow class and school choices, with county and inter county contests planned. The program starts after new material arrives and runs into late March.

Ven turi Garage to rise in Lexington in old hotel building

Miss Amabel Strodtman is home ill with influenza. Henderson and McCabe, who run the Ven turi Garage, have bought the old Main Street hotel and will convert it into a modern garage. Several residents and local clubs feature in town news from Portland visits to high school games and social gatherings.

Wanted Employment as Housekeeper in the Country
