Kansans Collect Social Security Nearly 300000 Benefit Total

Rep. Garner Shriver reports 1968 social security payments to Kansas totaled 297 million dollars for 299 391 recipients. The Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare notes monthly benefits of about 2 470 000. Payments cover retired and disabled workers survivors and dependents but exclude Medicare.

Knights Templar mark centennial in Salina gathering

In Salina area members of the Knights Templar attended a centennial of the order. Representing Esdraelon No. 49 were Past Grand Masters Stanley Kirk and Rev. E. E. Tillotson with spouses Nor man Clem of LeRoy Phil Flottman and Ira Barber from Humboldt. The order was organized in Kansas on December 29 1868. It is dedicated to supporting the Christian way of life.
