Garman Brothers Miller Buy Wood and Chaplin Store

The Wood and Chaplin General Merchandise store changes hands with E Chaplin selling his half to W J Wood who sells the entire property to Carl and Robert Garman and O W Miller. The firm will remodel the building add a glass front, combine spaces, and later use upper floors for stock once Odd Fellows lodge rooms are completed. Miller relocates from Hardy Nebraska with full stock to join the new outfit.

Campbell County Formed by Legislature Senate Vote 24 to 1

A Cheyenne letter reports the Legislature has created Campbell County. The Senate passed the bill 24 to 1 on the 8th, fixing the boundary six miles west of Moorcroft along the range line between 68 and 69. The new county will be 46 miles wide east to west, Crook 51 miles, with elections two years hence and an enabling act allowing immediate records transfer. Residents of old Crook County offered no objections, distances to the seat cited as the main issue.

Mrs Grace Hooker Dies at Merrick’s Mill

Grace Hooker wife of Theron Hooker died at Merrick’s saw mill Monday morning from a hemorrhage. They married in October and recently began their life together. Funeral services were held at the Alva church with internment in the Alva cemetery.
