On October 10 1805 a Hulett couple registered at Sundance Hotel with Rev M Nichols. Twenty years of homestead labor brought fortune and a fine family. Last Sunday marked their twentieth anniversary with 138 dinners served and many gifts.
The Southern Illinois Editorial Association met at East St. Louis to defend rural Republican papers against party splits that followed the 1912 revolt. Illinois elected a Republican U.S. senator while many Democratic congressmen fell. The piece lauds independent, owner-operated papers over “hireling” political organs, praising Wyoming’s solid press and urging steadfast, fair journalism.
The Cheyenne Leader urges prosperity through optimism and fashion as Oct 10 kicks off Dress Up Week. Citizens are asked to wear glad rags or at least smiles, with rosy business prospects and sunlit days cited as signs of better times ahead.
Two popular locals united in marriage on Monday morning October 11 at the home of Mr and Mrs M Connaughy. After a breakfast the couple planned a Moorcroft to Denver trip then to reside on the bride’s Sour Dough creek homestead. Rapidsall, a stockman, and Miss Connaughy have strong prospects and broad community support.
Frank Okowski drove onto the wooden bridge near Grant Bay, the vehicle jackknifed, dumping him and his team into the creek bottom. He was knocked senseless, bruised, and sore but later crawled to safety at Grant Bay, a blessing in disguise from the mishap.
County Superintendent Elmer E. Green notes Wyoming law requires publishers to file bonds and lowest price statements with the state. He warns school boards against unknown agents for books and supplies and mentions completing Perfect Attendance cards. Teachers in the southern county meet at the Douglas school house Saturday October 23 inviting all to attend.
Church notes list services Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Moorcroft with speakers Tower and Hulett. Frisbee and family have arrived in a good country, traveling via Lovell to Moorcroft. Abe Brown reports Mrs. Brown is in Camp Creek Hospital with little hope of recovery.
