Giddings Aged Father Missing After Deadwood Visit

Reports say George H. Giddings left Arpan for Virginia after a lengthy stay with his son Clyde. A trunk and several bags bearing his name were found at Deadwood depot and authorities fear foul play as the old man has not been heard from since November 4. A prior report of a dead man near a mine shaft near Terry raises further concern and calls for a thorough search of the mine shaft area.

Death of Baby Arthur Wayne Fowlkes

Arthur Wayne Fowlkes aged 2 months and 28 days died at home in Ellendale. The infant blessed the earth but a few days in life and leaves memories that may guide the family. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Brown and burial followed at Storm Cemetery.

Shipping Hogs to Market in Crook County

Last Saturday Louis Johnson and Carrol Kimball shipped two carloads of hogs to market from Aladdin. The pair are among Crook county’s heavy hog growers and profitable. Louisa Johnson has shipped two carloads and holds another in fattening pens. A load exceeds one thousand dollars, showing a farmer can profit from self raised feed. Hog, alfalfa, cows, cream, hens and eggs support resilience in hard times.
