Green D Todd frontiersman and Odd Fellows leader dies in Sundance
Green Duff Todd a Black Hills pioneer and forerunner of western civilization died at his Sundance home on December 29 1917 aged 75. He entered the Hills April 15 1876 as captain of a 30 man company from Cheyenne and helped open routes from Denver to Deadwood. He aided brothers William and Joe Todd after a prairie fire in 1881 and was a long time Odd Fellows member. The burial of a fallen Iowa Odd Fellow in the Hills led to the first local Odd Fellows funeral in the Black Hills.
