Miss Heinbaugh Dies Aged 24 In Storm Fatal Freeze Near Belle Fourche
Miss Heinbaugh twenty four years old froze to death during a severe Saturday storm about thirty miles northwest of Belle Fourche. Walter Wilson with her was badly frozen and collapsed. The two rode out with plans to visit the Wilson ranch then attempted to return as the blizzard hit. They became separated from the Heinbaugh party and wandered until daylight. The body was found near a sheep wagon and later moved to Belle Fourche for funeral services at the Congregational church.

In a blinding blizzard a wagon party wandered twenty miles from a ranch. Dewey r Heinbaugh also lost his way and reached Elwood Shroyer’s place after dawn. he was cold but not frozen. Flossie F Heinbaugh, born December 14 1802 in Lincoln county Nebraska, moved with her family in 1895 and later lived with her parents in Belle Fourche. The Hembaugh family long known near Deer Creek faces a second sudden death among their children, prompting widespread sympathy.
