Wyoming Oil Development Plans Hit Wyoming Fields This Spring

Charles Warren Rice of American Oil Company arrived in Salt Lake City to push rapid development of Wyoming oil holdings. He notes federal land withdrawals and Navy forecasts of one million barrels annually spur investment, with Greybull refinery at capacity and 75 tank cars leaving daily for Canada and the East. Weather and coal shortages hinder operations, but Mr. Rice’s firm remained active through winter and anticipates a spring rush to file on remaining lands.

Alleged Murderer Proffitt Detained in Wagoner Oklahoma

Sheriff Rutile reports Proffitt in custody at Wagoner on a murder charge involving W. H. Reh, once of Sundance. The case appears strong with a cold blooded killing, the victim beaten, clothing removed, body dumped in a creek. Rich's team and wagons were found with the accused. alleged stolen mares from Wyoming recovered.

Wedding Bells Ring for Ellen Bay Gatlin Pair

At high noon last Sunday in the bride's parents home Ellen Bay and J. B. Gatlin were married with Rev. J. M. Brown officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Bay, trained as a teacher, and the groom, a rancher from near Ridge Montana, met in the Rocky Point country. A wedding dinner followed with immediate relatives present. The Globe offers hearty congratulations and well wishes for the couple's joy and prosperity.

Becker family plans return to Canada ranch life

Herman Becker Jr and family visited Crook county today after years in Canada. They own 20 acres of Alberta farmland near Hanna 160 miles east of Calgary, yielding 4000 bushels from 100 acres last season at 1.75 a bushel. They note mild winter despite 60 below readings, ample rainfall, surface water, and large mosquito swarms in June. They expect to return mid February with brother August. Herman Beyker, once on Beaver Creek, is reported prosperous in the North.

Fire destroys ranch home of J. E. Altaffer

A Pine Ridge ranch home owned by J. E. Altaffer was destroyed by fire Monday morning. Altaffer and one son were away. Mrs. Altaffer and the other son were out. The blaze, blamed on a defective flue, left little behind and reportedly had no insurance.
