Hospital floor completion is asked council
An ordinance to authorize a $65 000 bond issue to finish the fifth floor of the city hospital outpatient building will be introduced soon. Dr Herman G Morgan health board secretary said the board asked City Controller William L Elder to attend a meeting this Tuesday. Evans Woollen Sr new health board member attended his first meeting after his appointment by Mayor Reginald H Sullivan. The fifth story was added to save costs later and not fully finished then. The Sullivan administration delayed the $1 044 000 ward unit due to heavy city debt, so the fifth floor was planned as temporary relief for hospital congestion. Service Construction Company was the sole bidder to reset coping on the administration building at $1,370.
