George A. Astery 59 years old, recently divorced, attempted suicide with a .32 revolver at 1122 Nelson street after a month of separation and years of paralysis. He fired three shots, two hitting near the heart and lower left lung. he survived and was in serious condition at City hospital.
Oliver Smith of Fort Benjamin Harrison faced a delinquency charge involving a 14 year old girl. He told Judge Stubbs he was not ready for trial and demanded a military attorney. Lieutenant Schuman was unavailable. the judge granted a continuance, scheduling the case for next Wednesday morning.
Mrs George D Adamson and Mrs F Chiles hosted Home Presbyterian Ladies Aid at Adamson home to organize more effective winter work. In evening the chorus choir organized by Miss Agnes De Groute organist.
James McCoy, 60, a deaf man, was killed by a Monon passenger train at 3:30 AM Thursday on Thirtieth and Detroit streets. The train was an hour late and McCoy, walking on the tracks, apparently thought it had arrived. His body was cut into pieces and taken to the county morgue. He lived with brother-in-law EB Davis at 2136 Martindale Avenue.
Charles W. Canfield testified he earned less than six dollars weekly and had paid his wife Mary Canfield as much as three dollars per week or whatever he could spare. Bound over to the grand jury for wife desertion, his bond was set at two hundred fifty dollars as he vowed to resume his husbandly duties.
Mary Bush files for divorce claiming Moses Bush, a laundry owner earning up to 100 dollars weekly, gave her only ten cents daily for support and struck her then drove her from home. She seeks 1000 dollars alimony. Other divorce petitions include Elizabeth von Pastor Flora Fimer Sieg and Elizabeth Ehrensperger Henry Edward Ehrensperger.
New York Sept 16 The proposed ten round bout between Sam Langford and Stanley Ketchel at the Fairmont club was called off early this afternoon. District Attorney Jerome, after a talk with Fairmont club president Gibson, announced the decision. Governor Hughes influenced the stoppage by directing his secretary to urge law enforcement to prevent the event.

Charles McDaniel was jailed in juvenile court after a judge fined him 250 dollars and ordered six months in the workhouse for neglecting his two children. James Lynch charged with stealing $20 from Henry C. Brown was ready for trial in police court Thursday but the case was continued to Sept. 4. The state informed the court that witnesses were to be located.
In Utica on September 16 authorities detailed renewed confusion in the Infusino murder inquiry. Michael Rizzo, the latest suspect, cannot be identified as the killer of Theresa Percopia and Freddy Infusino. Mrs Gray testified that Rizzo did not resemble the Italian man seen with the victims, while Fananie Infusince recovers from wounds after the youths were lured into woods north of town last Sunday night. Police say they exhausted their last clue and remain baffled.
A man fled a College Avenue residence after R. and Bennett approached from an upstairs bedroom. The intruder took a pocketbook with $8.50 and receipts from Citizens Gas and Btork Company before the escape was heard in the dining room.

Joseph Seligan purveyor at Delaware and Washington streets was charged with selling spoiled chicken and condemned his own product after volunteering to taste it in front of police. He went to the workhouse from police court, following a complaint from a buyer who found the chicken unfit. Police raided the platter and uncovered a shocking state of decay.
August Rothe died in 1908 and deeded $7 000 property for $1 to Anton Ploenges with life support. Relatives Henry Wischmeier Christiana Roempke Matilda Buhorn Louisa Wischmeier Johanna Lang sue to break the will claiming Rothe was mentally unbalanced. Samuel Route a Black man was arrested Wednesday night charged with peeping two windows at 21 W Pratt Street and sent to the workhouse after police court Thursday. Mary Weekly a white woman testified against Route. his employer asked for leniency and described him as a hard working man. Route said he was visiting his girl and knew nothing of the incident. He lives at 322 Sah Street.
