In Utica on a Tuesday night three men named John Smith Frenzy Jones and James Miller and three women riding with them were arrested before a residence on S Senate avenue. Bonds were set and the trio failed to appear on Wednesday, with fines paid on plain charges, while police sought to keep identities confidential.
Otis M. Walden a young man near Clermont was bound over to the grand jury on a charge of attempted criminal assault against Catharine Fehring. Mrs Fehring testified she was handled roughly and became ill. Walden bonded. defense claims hysteria and a long running fence dispute over hogs and fowls sparked the quarrel. State declined to dismiss the case.
Mrs. Maggie A. Tomlin of 420 Spurg Street files for divorce from Louis W. Tomlin claiming abuse after his February return from Madison and Columbus Indiana. She states threats and injuries including a wagon whip lash and a fork wound to her wrist. marriage dated February 13, 1877. Other Wednesday filings include John G. Richards versus Georgia Richards and Lucy Hull versus George E. Hull.

A man named Smith arrested Tuesday night while attempting to cash a fraudulent check at a Massachusetts avenue merchant was identified by police muster and prisoner description on Wednesday. The suspect passed a bad $15 check at the Oneida hotel Tuesday drawn on the State Bank of Lowell Indiana and signed R. L. Pellit. Detectives believe Smith is a Chicago crook and will be difficult to identify.
War veteran Co. W. Veach of National Military home Marion Indiana was taken to City hospital after a fall now says he struck his head when intoxicated. He denies robbery or ejection from a saloon and reports his property is with hospital authorities.
In the Thirtieth and Pennsylvania area a dark complexioned man on a bicycle has tried to lure little girls into the woods. Police were called Tuesday night for the second time in a week to pursue the man, who escaped on his bike. James Aurdy, 27, reports incidents involving his daughter and describes the suspect as about 24, five feet tall, 160 pounds, with a smooth face, wearing a black cap, blue shirt and dark corduroy trousers.
County Assessor Womack traveled to Minnesota and Indianapolis this week chasing delinquencies. He aims to place recovered funds on Marion county tax rolls, noting a $2,900 omission and another undeclared sum. He asserts assessors have a system to uncover hidden money and urges prompt disclosure.
The Jewett Car company sues the Electric Installation company claiming 922,000 due on promissory notes. The Electric line work on the Indianapolis and New Castle line involved. Union Trust company as receiver is said to hold 23,000 due the electric company. Attachments are requested.

A 6 cent sinking fund rate was approved and 15 000 set aside for experts to locate sequestered taxes outside Trarion county. Arthur Rentsch of 221 West Vermont says he was accosted by a gang of youths as he left his girlfriend’s home Tuesday night. He sought refuge in Huder's drug store and summoned police. Two officers escorted him to Indiana Avenue and Illinois Street, but no official report was filed. Police assume he reached home safely.
Mrs. Katie McCutcher a 6 year old employee at the insane hospital was injured when she fell from a car at the corner of Illinois and Maryland streets. She was taken to the hospital and initially feared seriously injured but later regained consciousness and showed signs of a speedy recovery.

Charles Solimano and wife are charged with contributing to the delinquency of a daughter of Deputy Bailiff Fields. The case was appealed from juvenile court to criminal court. The girl under 16 allegedly became intoxicated at a party at 34 E Norwood street. Mrs Solimano says guests supplied the money for the beer.
Minnesota Governor John A. Johnson was operated on by Dr. Will Mayo in Rochester. The two hour ten minute procedure left officials tight lipped as doctors warned recovery was uncertain. Johnson, a three term Republican figure then a Democratic presidential hopeful, rose from modest roots to national prominence.
Elsie Wilson age 17, described as attractive and robust, has vanished from 1727 N Arsenal Ave, the home of her mother Mrs Julia Self. Police believe she left with four young men and have not located the man. A citywide search began Wednesday. She is 5'10" and 150 pounds. last seen wearing a Merry Widow hat, black skirt, and white shirt waist.
Police instructed ten watchers to monitor Dan Long at Bagies Nest No 34 Washington St after Mayor Bookwalter canceled his license. Watch orders also extended to B C Nye at No 118 West Street due to Nye’s license expiry.
A thief took a blue serge suit two straw hats and $12 cash from Roebert Thompson at 629 St. Alabama. The coat belonged to Joan Harmon. Police seek Albert Barker, a Greenwood Indiana man who formerly roomed at the Thompson residence.
Mrs. John H Wheeler traced her husband to Terre Haute where he faced arrest for living with another woman. Indianapolis police brought Wheeler back as Mrs Wheeler filed in juvenile court charging abandonment of their 3 year old son. The patrolman father was seriously hurt months ago when thrown from a horse and Wheeler's status may end his career.
William P. Stevens, custodian of Tomlinson Hall, injured by a street car last January, sues the Indianapolis Traction & Terminal Company for 30,000 dollars in damages.
Rev W F Sharaf a 30 year old Methodist minister from Hope Idaho wed Miss Agnes R Simmons 20 in Seattle after a five week courtship. The pair traveled together to the exposition and registered at the St Francis hotel before obtaining a marriage license.
Homer Jones, 19, and Raymond Hoffstatter, 16, were arrested Tuesday by Motorcycleman Store for violating the speed law. Hoffstatter faces an additional charge for using a motor machine at too tender an age. He is not legally old enough to be trusted abroad with a gasoline assassin.
