Labor Day celebration drew large crowds with a bigger parade and families viewing downtown streets. Factories closed as the day turned to genuine enjoyment with picnics at the fair grounds and increased streetcar service.
The parade drew 3 056 participants including many union bands with Charlie Bookwalter and August Samm marching. The event featured 13 divisions of trades from machinists to sawmakers, with 2 000 spectators at the fair grounds by 1:30 pm and a lively afternoon program of races drills and contests.
Lew Wallace Jr delivered the day’s oration on labor at the fair grounds on Monday, arguing that wage earners must press for change through lawful means. He contrasted unionism with trusts as neutral yet powerful forces and urged resistance to criminal trusts opposing union rights.

A mob is rumored near the scene with calls for swift justice.
George Bright drunk on August 12 attacked his aging mother after she protested his behavior. Judge Daly fined him ten dollars and N days in jail. The court noted he had prior arrests for assaulting her. the mother is described as aged, blind, and very feeble.
