Bets on Ruckelshaus and the prosecutor’s race have begun as friends shift to wagering, previously quiet betting boards turning active this fall. Backers argue the now debated grave robbery indictment and rumored cold feet fuel the wagers amid saloon-keeper and gambler opposition.
Grand jury returns 25 indictments in cemetery grave robbing case. Cantrell says he will face prison and hopes white educators are arrested with him. Indicted include Rufus Cantrell and six others. arrests to follow. The group is accused of lifting or concealing bodies of Stella Middleton and others at local sites.

James Troy and his wife Josephine were fined heavily after a drunken brawl at 30 S West Street. Mrs Troy, who is crippled, claimed poverty but caused destruction of furniture and was stabbed in the shoulder during the incident. Troy fled via a second story window and both were arrested. Each received a $20 fine. Troy 60 days in the workhouse and Mrs. Troy costs.
President Mitchell of the miners and President Baer of the Reading railroad met with the strike commission to discuss future sessions and locations for testimony. The meeting was held behind closed doors, with all sessions open to the press, at Recorder Wright's office.
Prosecutor John Ruckelshaus and Deputy Charles Benedict denied a report they were invited out of the grand jury room during deliberations on Bud Richardson’s indictment for complicity in grave robbery. Each refused to confirm whether they were present for the vote and stressed grand jury secrecy.

In court Mrs. Williams said the hat belonged to both, they had paid half the price. Williams was discharged after promising to return the hat.
Cash Hadley says he has left the stump speech business and admits he overextended himself in his Lyra Hall address. He reports his voice is "on the bum" and he will not give further speeches.
George Evans, an old soldier from Danville, asked Judge Stubbs in Indianapolis police court to let him return to Danville after a drunken celebration near his furlough. He was battered from a Sunday fight and had one eye swollen. The judge advised him to be ashamed to return to his comrades and sentenced him to go back to Danville.
A Daleville letter with no recipient was sent to the dead letter office in Washington after two cents postage. The letter, opened by law, contained one cent and a note urging the sender to take nine more and buy a box of digestive tablets, revealing no address.

P S Blodgett general manager of the Lake Shore railway died at his Cleveland home Monday morning after months of illness. Blodgett was widely regarded as a top Vanderbilt lieutenant and a prominent railroad figure.

The Indiana safety board heard Patrolman B R Stevens testify that police do not raid gambling houses or arrest saloon owners with slot machines without special orders. Officials discussed repeated orders about the policy as slot machines proliferate in Indianapolis saloons and even cigar stores.
Patrolman B R Stevens, the Union station officer, was found guilty by the Board of Safety on charges of "working" slot machines. He allegedly replaced nickels with plugs and drilled holes to rig machines, and admitted teaching others how to steal from slots while denying hole-boring. Several saloon owners testified against him and he was removed from the police force.
English anarchist William McQueen, jailed for rioting in Patterson, railed against the U S government at a meeting in Piece's hall New York. Silk finisher James Staley rose, punched McQueen twice, then beat him to the floor before warning him to stop attacking the country.
Rear-admiral Charles ONeil presents the ordnance bureau annual budget for the year ending June 30, 194.
