At 2:41:30 Columbia crossed the line with Shamrock at 2:45:23 after a fierce windward and leeward duel. Columbia led most of the day then surged ahead in heavy wind, finishing to claim the cup for the year as spectators marveled at the fastest conditions since the Mayflower Galatea race.
A brief note records that the defeated party was accorded a welcome nearly as enthusiastic as that given to Columbia, highlighting the warmth of reception despite loss.

He has been part of the law firm Morris Newberger Curtis.
Mrs. Anna Graham sues the street car company and the North American improved rail joint company for 16000 after molten metal from a smelting machine explosion on N. Pennsylvania Street during welding fell on her, injuring her and shielding her daughter from harm.
