Mrs. Ellen Spaulding, 68, colored, fatally burned in a house fire on 525 Hiawathast. A overheated cook stove burned all night. She jumped from a second story window after flames trapped her, fracturing her right knee. House destroyed, loss $71,000, insured. Spaulding under care of Dr. J B Long. prognosis very poor. Other occupants Mr and Mrs Robert Wade escaped unharmed.
A Friday night gas explosion at 442-6 Massachusetts in the Alameda area caused extensive damage to C. J. Kidd's wallpaper store and the Alameda flats. Fire swept the basement, with losses estimated around 2,500 dollars for the building and 4,000 to 5,000 for Kidd's stock, all insured. Eyewitness H. C. Sharkless saw a man flee from the rear door after the blast as detectives investigate incendiary origins amid suspicious circumstances.
Ferdinand Poetzch of Trenton attended the Mercer orphans court to contest the probating of his brother William Poetzch's will. He refused to accept the fortune unless the will is legally made, stating he will share if the court awards him the money.

President Nancy E Atkinson Wabash Ind and vice president Effie Cunningham were chosen along with other officers. Most officers were re-elected except the president and vice president. Mrs W Payne from Kansas reported on national educational work.
New York coroner prepared an inquest into the deadly Broad Exchange Building double murder by Turner. Victims were Will iam J. Mallard of Atlanta Albert Hamilton of Pittsburg and W C Turner of New York. Adams survived as Turner aimed at him then ordered him to flee. Turner faced a forgery tied to a $2700 bank check amid alleged pressure over a Climax company shortage.

A group of colored newsboys played craps in News alley Saturday afternoon when Ote Clay, a grown man, grabbed the stake and fled. Clays chased by about fifty boys with sticks followed him through alleys and into a stairway on West Market Street where officers captured him and took him to the police station.
