Colored Lad Granger Sentenced for Assault at Brighton Beach Canal
DePriz Granger an 18 year old colored lad was charged with assault and battery with attempt to rape Bessie Farrar a white girl near the Brighton Beach Canal bridge last month. He received a two year sentence in the prison north Judge McCray said if older he would face about six years. Farrar testified Granger grabbed her as she crossed the bridge and tried to throw her down the embankment but her screams brought help and he fled.
