Reports say Gen Bacon plans to attack the Indians with full force and refuse quarter. Lumbermen and frontiersmen relay that hostiles are preparing for a long siege and that a peace council may fail. Indians move to safety as war rumors spread across lakes and timbered lands.
In Jackson Mississippi the yellow fever epidemic threatens statewide spread without frost. Seventeen counties now infected, including Pearl River and Perry. State health officials struggle as relief efforts, nursing support, and federal aid are pursued. Panics grow as rail service halts and refugee cases appear.
Forecast for Indianapolis and vicinity through 8 p m Tuesday calls for warmer, fair conditions followed by showers Monday night into Tuesday. At 7 a m Monday the temperature was 56 degrees.

In Carlyle Illinois on Sunday Jos Corcoran and his fiancée Lela Shade with friends visited the cemetery. Corcoran accidentally discharged a revolver striking Shade who was unable to speak. Believing he killed her he shot himself and died instantly, while Shade survived with a flesh wound.
A three year old girl fell ten feet from a balcony at the family home 977 West Washington Street Sunday. She was badly shaken but Dr. Eisenheiss believes she will recover.
Sagasta and his government fear a military insurrection once western Cuba is evacuated and soldiers return to Spain. The government telegraphs Blanco to embark troops separately, but Blanco flatly refuses the orders.
In a resumed criminal court session Monday the defense and prosecution argued over witness denials by Charles Talbert later identified as Wilson. Patrolman Wallace testified about Mrs Goodin's carriage route near New York and Pennsylvania streets, confirming a five mile trip. Testimony noted that Mrs Goodin and daughter left the Umpire block after 2 pm and reached the Ingalls block around 2 30 pm. The Sun's acid-throwing report from May 21 was admitted to explain Mrs Goodin's remark about expecting arrest. the court planned seven hours of closing arguments split across Wednesday, with Hadley and Hornbrook leading for the defense and Wiltsie for the prosecution.
Wm E Travis of Brooklyn, a respected traveling salesman, was arrested at Grand Central depot after detectives traced burglaries to New York and Hartford. Police found two revolvers, silverware, a trunk full of silver, and crucibles at his home, revealing a ten year solo burglary career.

Edith Easter a chorus girl in Weber and Fields Hurly Burly company died of carbolic acid poisoning in her Falk building lodging. A well dressed young man summoned two physicians Sunday night and then vanished at the doorway as doctors found her dead. Police seek the man who was with her and called the doctors.
Judge Harvey denies Charles A Workman’s divorce petition after a week of deliberation. Workman claimed he lived with eleven cats. Mrs Workman testified she never kept more than nine cats. Witnesses described Mrs Workman as a model housekeeper.
