Milwaukee police found Helen Vinga missing since Friday in an abandoned real estate office. Finger marks suggest strangulation by two men. Office entry via pried window, dust marks show her dragged, a chair battered as she resisted. Two young men sought.
At Cherry Illinois on November 17 the state militia was ordered to drive back thousands gathered at the St Paul mine shaft amid fears of a gas explosion and further disaster. Despite authorities saying descent was nearly impossible, crowds pressed the scene as miners and families waited for word on bodies and potential rescue.

Sheldon Morris a 22 year old car inspector died Wednesday at St Vincent hospital from injuries suffered in a yard accident Monday in the Big Four yards southeast of the city. He was unmarried and resided at 1012 Fletcher avenue.
New Orleans reports a three way duel at Pioneer Street where Clarence Compton his wife and child were killed. Sylvester Owens and brother Clarence were wounded and in custody after the confrontation over an alleged slight to the Owens sister. Compton challenged both at once and fired as the others returned fire. The wife and daughter rushed to shield him and perished.
Residents near West New York Street and the White River filed a petition with the county commissioners Wednesday requesting construction of a bridge at that location. The commissioners will not act until a later date.
Cincinnati November 11. Stockholders of the Cleveland Cincinnati Chicago and St Louis Railroad authorized a 20,000,000 bond issue to fund funding the floating debt and improvement work. Directors to set issue dates and interest rates as part of a general improvement program.
