A Frankfurt dispatch reports that Queen Victoria will abdicate with an official declaration around November 20 during the Kaiser's visit. The rumor circulated in Berlin and London telegraphs.

The Flower mission fair opens Tuesday night in Tomlinson hall with Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pinafore performed by professionals led by Mrs. John T. Brush. The show runs Tuesday to Thursday with a strong chorus, elaborate costumes, and naval fair decorations. A Friday Saturday vaudeville, daily business lunches, and church ladies support complete the program.
Sam A. Smith stood trial in police court on a charge of assaulting his wife. The wife testified she fell from a buggy during play, while she accused him of striking her. A policeman, Sam Irish, caused a brief confusion when asked if Mrs Smith was his wife. The case was continued indefinitely with a later appearance date to be set.
Amanda Smith, a gray evangelist, will preach at the A. M. E. church on Broadway between Tenth and Eleventh streets in Indianapolis. She will speak Sunday at 10 45 a m and 7 45 p m and address the Mothers of the City Monday at 8 p m under the Women's Missionary Society auspices. She will deliver her farewell sermon at 8 p m.
The treasury mailed two checks totaling 609000 to U S attorney Wishard showing the government accepts the appraised block 36 value and will pay cash once no exceptions are filed. Officials say a jury would likely undervalue parts of the property, praising appraisers Matott Holiweg and Fletcher. Wishard left for Washington. no further details on the checks.
The rumor that George J. Marott offered 400000 for the postoffice property is denied by Marott who says no offer was made by him or known to him. Postmaster Hess says three bona fide offers of 400 each have been received for the property.

Paducah Kentucky, November 11. Joe Endress, a railroad worker, shot and killed Dora Shire a 17 year old from a wealthy family, then killed himself after pursuing her for days. Chief Hoyer tried to intervene as Endress fired from concealment near city hall.
Shover and Austin filed a construction bond with the Board of Works for a concrete and steel bridge over Fall Creek at Meridian Street. Bond stands at 327000 with a 5000 guarantee for three years and a temporary six foot wide bridge to be built. Contract price 54440. Hoosier Bridge Company to bond for Illinois Street bridge over Fall Creek with similar conditions at 50900.
The Board of state charities visited the Indianapolis institutions including the institutes for the blind and deaf and the Central hospital for the insane. They reported higher attendance at schools, fewer inmates at the boys reformatory in Plainfield, and satisfaction with administration and repairs under way. New buildings funded by last legislature are being erected or completed.
Rolla E. Parsely is granted divorce in superior court after testifying he found his wife Edna drunk in a room over a saloon and later seen in deer gardens. Edna Parsely, present in court, declined to speak saying she had nothing to say.
The Commercial club and Board of Trade will send delegates to the Western waterways convention in Memphis on November 14 and 15. H. T. Hearsey T. A. Wynne and H. C. Thomas Blackburn ex president of the Central labor union argues that Chicago architects and builders cannot destroy labor unions. He cites 38 walking trades delegates and daily visits to job sites showing organized labor. He warns that some leaders may err but non union work cannot replace organized labor.
The Carpenters union accuses the Columbia club project of employing scabs through Dayton foremen who refused to discharge workers who declined union membership. Delegates to the Central labor union were told to press for a swift settlement. Dr Isrrankliin Hayes says the club bears no responsibility and blames contractors.
The carpenters union intends to enforce a contract clause requiring union labor on the Frederick L. Schaub building at Massachusetts avenue and North street, replacing a site destroyed by an explosion. Jungclaus & Co. is accused of taking a low bid on a specified job to evade the union, and the union plans legal action if needed to enforce compliance.
Cavanagh and Lownsend own a monotype press at Mercantile Tile Guide and Publishing. The machine, paired with a separate casting unit, is the only one west of Chicago. It uses a 256 key keyboard to punch holes in paper, then casts individual letters for books and tabular work, replacing six workers.
Edward Nix died at Port Tampa from yellow fever on Friday night and two other cases have developed. Quarantine measures are in place and there is great anxiety among residents.

Mrs. Mary A. Potts known as Grandma Potts of 27 Walcott Street will turn 80 on Sunday. She arrived from Baltimore with her father in 1835 to Indianapolis, recalls a city of rambling cabins, ox-drawn stages, and first stores. She helped start a free Methodist school, stayed active in charity and politics, and rode streetcars until recent years. She has two Indianapolis sons, Alfred Potts and Henry C. Jordan.
A warrant was issued by Salt Lake County Attorney Putnam for Brigham H. Roberts congressman-elect from Utah now in New York. The charge is polygamy and requisition papers will be sought to extradite him back to Utah.
Frankfort Ky November report shows Taylor with a large national plurality and Goebel asserting safety. County returns from 119 counties 80 official indicate Taylor leading by about 1 338 votes while Jefferson county shows a 632 margin dispute. Printing error in Nelson county shifts several results and Kenton county reveals Goebel loses votes.
Albert Zearing private secretary to Mayor Taggart awoke Saturday to a garret to cedar burglary at 1339 Massachusetts Ave. A front door was open furniture overturned and clothing piled on the floor. Several boxes with fishing tackle and souvenirs were ransacked but no high value items were taken. Zearing has had prior robberies including 1893 incidents with a gold watch.
Impeachment actions against Lodge Perkins and Proctor dominate the high school senate debate. The trio, held for alleged machine politics and corruption, were ordered from chambers as trial looms. The investigating committee favored prosecution with McCamus Platt as prosecutors and Allison Beveridge on the defense.
