Daniel McCarty of 63 Church St lies in critical condition at City Hospital from a abdomen wound inflicted by James Thomas, a colored porter, during a drunken melee outside Venable’s lunch room near Union Station. Thomas was arrested and McCarty underwent surgery. the victim died Monday afternoon. Thomas’s case was set for Nov 1 in police court. The mother of McCarty contested the choice of undertaker after the hospital burial decision.
The nineteenth anniversary memorial for Oliver P. Morton was held Sunday at Central Ave church. Maj. H. H. Trafford, his Senate aide, lauded Morton as a true gentleman in health and sickness and defended him from charges as the apostle of hate. Rev. R. B. Lucas read an unpublished poem by Thomas Buchanan Reed.
Gen Flarvison returned home from a stumping tour Saturday night around 9.000 people gathered in Wortville for the day’s final speech. Harrison declared Indiana safe for McKinley, citing his observations. He endured the trip with a strained voice but performed well overall.
In Christian Hill two citizens Chas Simpson and Thomas Gohegan tussled Sunday morning. Gohegan claims Simpson bit off his ear and stabbed him in the arm. Judge Cox fined Simpson ten dollars and sentenced him to five days on the stone pile.
Judge Woods directs defendants or counsel to appear in U.S. court on November 13 at 10 a.m. to show cause why they should not be enjoined from using or appropriating any of the thirty percent of gross earnings the Terre Haute and Indianapolis had agreed to pay toward interest on bonds, for tile floors and special designs. William Murphy reports the Bradley well as an unlucky oil venture. Efforts with 26 quarts glycerine and 30 quarts failed to explode the oil, and dynamite offerings also failed. A final plan to drop the drill with 40 quarts glycerine and 19 pounds dynamite may bend or trap the drill, potentially leaving it in the well. He bets the well could have yielded 30 to 50 barrels daily if luck had held.
Reverend George A. Breunig 86 died at noon Sunday at 241 Park Ave Indianapolis after years away from active ministry. Born in Germany in 181, he immigrated in 1832 and moved to Indianapolis in 1854 to serve German congregations. Funeral services set for 1:00 PM Wednesday at the family home and 2:00 PM at First German Methodist Church, corner New Jersey and New York. Survived by two children Mary and George T Breunig. He belonged to the Tippecanoe club of Harrison voters from 1840.
George Frown a farmer living four miles west of West Indianapolis in Wayne township died Saturday night of pneumonia. His six children were in the city several marching in the Republican parade. He was 40 years old and a Union veteran.

Mrs. Louis G. Adams died at her home after a 13 week illness of consumption. She was formerly a teacher at school No. 2 and sister of HJ Huder a druggist. She leaves a seven week old child. Funeral was held at 549 Ash Street at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Haines officiating.
Come Parsley Showisan Sheriff Weddle and a deputy visited Indianapolis Sunday night to arrest a man named Parsley for paying democratic voters to remember the polls. Parsley himself was unnered and arrested Saturday evening at Franklin but slipped between officers and escaped.
