Washington May 10 Up to 10 am Tuesday no news had been received on Sampson s squadron while officials and the president awaited word. Reports suggest Dewey moved toward the Philippines under orders to strike Spanish vessels. If Sampson s fleet remains unseen, naval officers expect no confirmation before Friday or Saturday.
The ambulance ship Solace, sailing from Hampton Roads on Monday, will accompany Admiral Sampson's squadron to deliver medical aid and supply gunpowder and ammunition.
