Plant Will Be Sold in Consumers Gas Trust Case

The Supreme Court denied certiorari in the Consumers Gas Trust case, upholding a lower court ruling that the trust had no right to manufacture artificial gas and that the plant should be sold or proceeds distributed to certificate-holders. Byrand Quinby and George J. Marott led a dispute among certificate-holders over whether to pursue artificial gas production or liquidate the plant. Several named appellants supported selling the plant, while others urged preserving the corporation’s assets for certificate-holders.
