Cannon's Ruling Sets Precedent, Murdoch Sees Important Impact
Washington March 22 insurgent leaders applaud last week's clash as a victory and hail a Cannon ruling that makes the speaker always subject to the will of the House. Rep Murdock Kansas calls the precedent the crucial gain, enabling future moves to declare the chair vacant without charges, while other lawmakers express mixed views on legislative timing and party control.

Barnstorming venture nets a troupe cash and crowd
In Sweetwater a small audience yields a last minute show. P R Eaton recalls how a hotel keeper offers $25 for vaudeville, drawing a hundred plus for sketches and skits. The act covers expenses via $3 per couple wagon returns and a 25 cent hotel supper. The troupe mingles with locals and the up to date young promoter earns over $100. In Shelbyville a man, Thomas J Watson, is found dead in his room, suspected suicide by gin.
