War veteran Lillard seeks parole amid political rally fallout

The case stemmed from a Cypress Indiana rally marked by intoxication and a fatal confrontation between two men. a plea to manslaughter was offered, a hung jury first found self defense, and a second jury convicted Lillard of second degree murder. He has served 12 years of his life term.
