In Palmetto Georgia about 1 amThursday a mob of 200 whitecaps attacked a guard and shot nine imprisoned black men awaiting arson trial. Six died at once and three others were expected to die. Troops may be sent as authorities fear further violence amid prohibition tensions.
In Lebanon Indiana on March 16 a jury was finally chosen in the murder case of William Blume charged with killing Grace Harvey at the Wardrope resort on West Washington Street. Testimony from Mary Simpson and witnesses described Blume threatening the victim and the shooting. The mother of the resort proprietress wept as proceedings began the day.
County commissioners announced Thursday that the court house grounds will not be converted into a park unless the city clears the surrounding market wagons and stands. The Board of Safety will take up the matter at its first meeting, with prior orders to clear stalls having been rescinded amid lack of alternative space.

A Worcester Suburban trolley car derailed near the Mc Gowen bridge over the Blackstone River in Millbury Massachusetts late Wednesday night.
