Intense light burns two workers at Swift’s hotel beam
In Grand Rapids on March 6 two operators Charles Fortier and Fred Fairfield suffered severe burns and temporary blindness from an intense light used to burn in a large steel beam at Swift's hotel. Dr. D Emmet Welsh treated them and warned vision would return after more than a week as the skin peeled from baked tissues. Even brief viewers could scarcely see after exiting the room.
