Frank Miller was hanged in Birmingham after protesting innocence. The executed man, famed safe blower, was linked to the Standard Oil raid on March 28, 1900. Watchman Clayton was beaten and left for dead. robbers gained 500 dollars. Miller and Frank Duncan were captured by Officers Adams and Kirkley. Edward Ruthven, a negro murderer, was electrocuted at 12 08 a m in the Columbus penitentiary for the killing of Police Officer Shipp in Cleveland on May 6 1900. He was captured at 1118 Fayette street Indianapolis after a gunfight with Detectives Kinney Morgan Gerber Splan and Dugan on June 2. Ruthven resisted and was tried in Cleveland and convicted after three reprieves. His wife Lizzie Ruthven, serving six years for receiving stolen property, claimed innocence and attempted suicide after his execution.
