William H. Birk allowed his chum Ames Sweitzer to visit his wife Mrs. Birk after a separation. Raymond Simpson of Scottsburg Indiana left Union Station at midnight Tuesday with an agreeable stranger who proposed a walk. Within an hour he was robbed of 26 dollars by a highwayman aided by a confederate. The pair directed them to part near Osage street and Senate avenue. Simpson was left penniless and taken to police headquarters.

Nicholas Demmer of Emrichville woke to an intruder in his room. He recognized the man as Joseph Bellis, who allegedly struck a match and attempted theft. Bellis was arrested on conspiracy and petit larceny charges by Detectives Dugan and Smith.
The Twelfth Ward Democratic club will hold a meeting at the Merrill and West streets hall tonight with John F. Connor, candidate for city clerk, opening proceedings. All Democratic candidates for city offices are expected to attend.
